In August 2026 we remodeled a galley kitchen in Leisure World, MD. The existing wood cabinets and appliances stayed in place, and we updated the surfaces and lighting around them. The work included white marble-look countertops, a white subway-style tile backsplash, a stainless undermount sink with a high-arc faucet, and a smooth ceiling with recessed lights in place of the old light-panel ceiling.

Project at a Glance

Location: Leisure World, MD (Montgomery County)
Service: Kitchen remodel
When: August 2026
Contractor: Real Time Home Improvement (MHIC #162705)

The Starting Point

Before the remodel, the galley kitchen had speckled brown countertops, including a rounded end at the peninsula, and a white drop-in sink. There was no tile backsplash, only painted wall above the counters. Most of the ceiling was a large wood-framed light panel. The light wood cabinets, stainless range and microwave, and white refrigerator were already in place.

What We Did

Replaced the speckled countertops with white marble-look countertops, including the rounded peninsula end.
Installed a white subway-style tile backsplash between the counters and upper cabinets.
Put in a stainless undermount sink with a high-arc faucet.
Replaced the wood-framed light-panel ceiling with a smooth ceiling and recessed lights.
Kept the existing wood cabinets, appliances and wood-look floor in place.

Materials and Finishes

White marble-look countertops with soft gray veining
White subway-style backsplash tile
Stainless undermount sink with a high-arc faucet
Recessed ceiling lights
Existing light wood cabinets, stainless range and microwave

The Result

The kitchen keeps its galley layout, wood cabinets and appliances, but the surfaces around them are new. White marble-look countertops run along both sides and wrap the rounded peninsula end above the open shelves. A white subway-style backsplash fills the wall between counters and cabinets. The stainless undermount sink has a high-arc faucet, and a smooth ceiling with recessed lights replaces the old light panel.

Hugo and Gaby from Real Time Home Improvement did a great job on our kitchen remodel in Bethesda, Maryland. They gave us a free estimate and a free design, and they helped us raise our cabinets all the way to the ceiling, which made more room in the kitchen. They were on site for most of the major stages and made sure everything ran smoothly. We were happy every step of the way.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team did a great job! They were on time, professional, and got everything taken care of. They leveled the subfloor and installed the LVP after I had a huge flooring issue in my bathroom. They also reattached my vanity, toilet, and tub, and reran all the plumbing because it had been leaking and was not installed correctly previously.

They did a wonderful job, and I would definitely recommend Hugo and his team for any future renovations. He’s a five-star guy!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team were great to work with. I noticed my bathtub sinking and they were able to get me an estimate quickly with a more than reasonable price. Subfloor repair was thorough and they were able to identify a broken pipe causing the damage. They also repaired a significant portion of plumbing to prevent this type of damage from happening again. Would highly recommend this team, and if I have any other home projects I will certainly be giving them a call.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Exactly what I needed and wanted: calm, polite, professional, competitively priced, and very good at what they do. They redid my laundry area, including plumbing, waterproofing, tiling, and drywalling.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team led a full basement renovation and concrete driveway installation at our home. They finished both jobs concurrently and were on time and on budget in both regards. It was a pleasure working with the team and I would not hesitate to use Real Time again for large or small projects.
