Quality Kitchen, Bathroom & Basement Remodeling Services in Kensington, Maryland.
Kensington is a small town with a big sense of history, from its Victorian homes near the train station to the mid-century houses on its quiet side streets. Real Time Home Improvement helps Kensington homeowners update these homes while keeping the details that make them special. We remodel kitchens, bathrooms, and basements, and we also install flooring, doors, and windows. Every estimate is free.
Many Kensington homes have older basements with low ceilings, stone walls, or signs of moisture. We fix water issues first, then finish the space into a family room, guest suite, or home office that feels like part of the house.
Original Kensington bathrooms are often small and dated. We rework the layout to make better use of every inch, then add new tile, a modern vanity, and fixtures that still fit the character of your home.
Older Kensington kitchens were not built for the way families cook today. We open up tight layouts where it makes sense, add smart storage, and install cabinets and countertops that match your home's style.
From restoring original hardwood to installing new tile or luxury vinyl, we handle flooring in Kensington homes of every age. We also level uneven subfloors, which are common in older houses, so your new floors look and feel solid.
The right front door can bring out the charm of a Kensington home. We install entry, patio, sliding, and storm doors that seal tightly, improve security, and suit your home's architecture.
Drafty windows make a home harder to heat and cool. That's why we install energy-efficient replacement windows in Kensington homes, sized to fit each opening. Button label: View Window Options
Basement Remodeling
Many Kensington homes, from Victorians near the train station to mid-century houses on the side streets, have older basements with low ceilings, stone or block walls and signs of moisture. We fix the water issues first, whether that means sealing walls, improving drainage or adding a sump pump. Then we frame, insulate, run electrical and lighting, and finish with drywall, trim and basement-rated flooring. The result is a family room, guest suite or home office that feels like part of the house. We handle the permits and inspections from start to finish.
Bathroom Remodeling
Better use of every inch, with details that fit your home.
Original bathrooms in Kensington homes are often small and oddly shaped. We rework the layout to make better use of every inch, sometimes swapping a tub for a walk-in shower. Then we add new tile, a vanity with real storage, lighting and fixtures that still suit the character of the house, like classic subway tile or a pedestal sink. While the walls are open, we update old plumbing and repair the floor, and we waterproof every shower properly.
Kitchen Remodeling
Older Kensington kitchens were not built for the way families cook today, with small work areas and little storage. We open up tight layouts where it makes sense, add smart storage and more counter space, and install new cabinets, countertops, backsplash tile, lighting and flooring. In Victorian and early 1900s homes, we look for ways to keep details like original trim while making the kitchen work. If a wall needs to come out, we check the structure first and handle the permits.
Flooring Installation
Original wood floors restored, new floors installed.
Kensington homes often have original hardwood worth saving. We sand, repair and refinish old floors, weaving in matching boards where needed, so the floor keeps its character. We also install new hardwood, engineered wood, luxury vinyl plank and tile in kitchens, bathrooms and basements. Before any floor goes down, we check the subfloor and fix squeaks and soft spots, so the floor stays flat and quiet.
Door Installation
A front door says a lot about an older Kensington home. We install entry doors, storm doors, French and sliding patio doors and interior doors, in styles that fit Victorian, Craftsman and mid-century houses. Part of Kensington is in a historic district, where exterior changes like a new front door may need review before work starts, so we help you check what applies. Each door is set level, sealed and adjusted so it closes tight and locks smoothly.
Window Replacement
Windows that keep your home's character and cut drafts.
Original windows give older Kensington homes much of their charm, but many leak air, rattle or no longer open. We install energy-efficient replacement windows, including ProVia, in styles that suit older homes, such as double-hung windows with divided lites. If your home is in the historic district, window changes may need approval first, and we help you find out before ordering. We measure every opening, then install, insulate and trim each window. Every estimate is free.
Home Remodeling Process
Our process is simple. First, we start with a free consultation. Next, we handle the design and planning. We also take care of all the permits your project needs. Then our crew completes your renovation with expert craftsmanship. Finally, we do a full inspection to make sure everything meets our standards and yours.

Hugo and Gaby from Real Time Home Improvement did a great job on our kitchen remodel in Bethesda, Maryland. They gave us a free estimate and a free design, and they helped us raise our cabinets all the way to the ceiling, which made more room in the kitchen. They were on site for most of the major stages and made sure everything ran smoothly. We were happy every step of the way.+0Posted on Google![]()

Hugo and his team did a great job! They were on time, professional, and got everything taken care of. They leveled the subfloor and installed the LVP after I had a huge flooring issue in my bathroom. They also reattached my vanity, toilet, and tub, and reran all the plumbing because it had been leaking and was not installed correctly previously. They did a wonderful job, and I would definitely recommend Hugo and his team for any future renovations. He’s a five-star guy!Posted on Google![]()

Hugo and his team were great to work with. I noticed my bathtub sinking and they were able to get me an estimate quickly with a more than reasonable price. Subfloor repair was thorough and they were able to identify a broken pipe causing the damage. They also repaired a significant portion of plumbing to prevent this type of damage from happening again. Would highly recommend this team, and if I have any other home projects I will certainly be giving them a call.Posted on Google![]()

Hugo and his team led a full basement renovation and concrete driveway installation at our home. They finished both jobs concurrently and were on time and on budget in both regards. It was a pleasure working with the team and I would not hesitate to use Real Time again for large or small projects.
