In August 2023 we did interior painting in a Potomac, MD home, covering two rooms in a deep navy blue. One is a carpeted room with a closet, built-in shelves, a ceiling fan and a wide window. The other is the dining room. White trim and white ceilings frame the dark walls in both spaces. The photos show the carpeted room before and after, and the dining room once the work was done.

Project at a Glance

Location: Potomac, MD (Montgomery County)
Service: Interior painting
When: August 2023
Contractor: Real Time Home Improvement (MHIC #162705)

The Starting Point

The carpeted room had tan walls with white baseboards, a white closet and built-in shelving, and a ceiling fan. In one before photo, boxes, bags and a lamp sit in the middle of the floor. The dining room walls were a light gray under white crown molding.

What We Did

Painted the walls of the carpeted room deep navy, replacing the tan color.
Painted the dining room walls deep navy over the old light gray.
Cut in clean lines where the navy meets white baseboards, door casings, crown molding and ceilings.
Covered the dining room floor, table and light fixture with plastic while we painted.

Materials and Finishes

Deep navy blue wall paint
White baseboards, door casings and crown molding
White ceilings
Plastic sheeting and painter’s tape for protection

The Result

Both rooms now have deep navy walls. In the carpeted room, the white closet doors, built-in shelves and window trim stand out against the dark color. In the dining room, the navy sets off the white crown molding, the framed abstract art and the gold dome pendant over the table. The white ceilings and trim give the dark walls crisp edges in both rooms.

Hugo and Gaby from Real Time Home Improvement did a great job on our kitchen remodel in Bethesda, Maryland. They gave us a free estimate and a free design, and they helped us raise our cabinets all the way to the ceiling, which made more room in the kitchen. They were on site for most of the major stages and made sure everything ran smoothly. We were happy every step of the way.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team did a great job! They were on time, professional, and got everything taken care of. They leveled the subfloor and installed the LVP after I had a huge flooring issue in my bathroom. They also reattached my vanity, toilet, and tub, and reran all the plumbing because it had been leaking and was not installed correctly previously.

They did a wonderful job, and I would definitely recommend Hugo and his team for any future renovations. He’s a five-star guy!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team were great to work with. I noticed my bathtub sinking and they were able to get me an estimate quickly with a more than reasonable price. Subfloor repair was thorough and they were able to identify a broken pipe causing the damage. They also repaired a significant portion of plumbing to prevent this type of damage from happening again. Would highly recommend this team, and if I have any other home projects I will certainly be giving them a call.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Exactly what I needed and wanted: calm, polite, professional, competitively priced, and very good at what they do. They redid my laundry area, including plumbing, waterproofing, tiling, and drywalling.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team led a full basement renovation and concrete driveway installation at our home. They finished both jobs concurrently and were on time and on budget in both regards. It was a pleasure working with the team and I would not hesitate to use Real Time again for large or small projects.
