In March and April 2024 we handled hardwood floor refinishing on the main level of a Silver Spring, MD home. The narrow strip floors run through the galley kitchen, breakfast area, dining room, living room and front hall. We sanded them to bare wood, covered the kitchen cabinets and doorways with plastic, and applied a new finish with a natural honey tone. The photos show the kitchen before and the finished rooms after.
Before the work, the kitchen floor had an older amber finish. Dark lines had settled into the grain, and the path between the refrigerator and the wall ovens looked dull and uneven. The same narrow strip flooring continued into the dining and living rooms, which still had rugs and furniture in place.
The finished floors have a lighter, even honey tone, and the grain shows clearly. In the galley kitchen, the light floor stands out against the cherry cabinets. The dining room floor reflects the window light. The living room and front hall match the kitchen and dining room, so the main level reads as one continuous floor. The last photos show the dining and living room furniture back in place.
