From September to October 2023 we remodeled a basement in Sandy Spring, MD. The photos show the space at the insulation stage and after the work was done. The basement went from open ceiling joists and insulated stud walls to finished rooms. The walls now have warm wood-grain paneling, the ceiling is smooth and white with recessed lights, and light gray wood-look planks cover the floor.

Service: Basement remodel
When: September–October 2023
Contractor: Real Time Home Improvement (MHIC #162705)

What We Did

Insulated the basement walls between the studs
Closed in the open ceiling joists with a smooth, white ceiling
Installed round recessed lights across the ceiling
Covered the walls with warm wood-grain paneling
Installed light gray wood-look plank flooring

Materials and Finishes

Warm wood-grain wall paneling
Light gray wood-look plank flooring
Smooth white ceiling with round recessed lights
Paper-faced insulation batts in the walls

The Result

The finished basement is bright and open. Recessed lights spread even light across the smooth white ceiling. The wood-grain paneling wraps the room and the stair wall, and the light gray floor balances its warm tone. The stairs, with gray carpet and a wood handrail, come down into the main room. The long room in the second photo has the same paneling, floor, and lighting.

Hugo and Gaby from Real Time Home Improvement did a great job on our kitchen remodel in Bethesda, Maryland. They gave us a free estimate and a free design, and they helped us raise our cabinets all the way to the ceiling, which made more room in the kitchen. They were on site for most of the major stages and made sure everything ran smoothly. We were happy every step of the way.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team did a great job! They were on time, professional, and got everything taken care of. They leveled the subfloor and installed the LVP after I had a huge flooring issue in my bathroom. They also reattached my vanity, toilet, and tub, and reran all the plumbing because it had been leaking and was not installed correctly previously.

They did a wonderful job, and I would definitely recommend Hugo and his team for any future renovations. He’s a five-star guy!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team were great to work with. I noticed my bathtub sinking and they were able to get me an estimate quickly with a more than reasonable price. Subfloor repair was thorough and they were able to identify a broken pipe causing the damage. They also repaired a significant portion of plumbing to prevent this type of damage from happening again. Would highly recommend this team, and if I have any other home projects I will certainly be giving them a call.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Exactly what I needed and wanted: calm, polite, professional, competitively priced, and very good at what they do. They redid my laundry area, including plumbing, waterproofing, tiling, and drywalling.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Hugo and his team led a full basement renovation and concrete driveway installation at our home. They finished both jobs concurrently and were on time and on budget in both regards. It was a pleasure working with the team and I would not hesitate to use Real Time again for large or small projects.
